Lead acid deep-cycle batteries are still the most common because of their low cost/watt ratio. AGM (absorbed glass mat) and VRLA (valve regulated lead acid) batteries can provide consumers with no/low maintenance stand-by power. Batteries are series wired to the system voltage in "banks," then parallel connected for added capacity.
